Gateway Rescue

Our next stop on Friday was the Gateway Rescue Mission center in Pearl. Gateway runs many charity programs such as shelters, thrift shops and soup kitchens. We spent some time helping them out at their main Thrift Shop.

Gateway received an enormous amount of charity donations when the Hurricane relief effort began. To handle all of the donations they received they had to close a portion of their store to open it up for storage and handling of charity receiving. The pictures above are of their donation warehouse. We spent time there helping them unload trucks and sorting through the donations.

To give an idea of how many donations Gateway has received: a few weeks ago their warehouse was packed to four feet from the ceiling.
